EU Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) Regulation 1107/2006
The European Commission issued its legislative proposal in February 2005 regarding the Rights of Persons with Reduced Mobility when travelling by air. Whilst recognising that carriers already provide such services, the proposed EU legislation aimed to ensure that these services are provided at no charge to the passengers concerned on the grounds of equity and social inclusion.
The PRM Regulation 1107/2006 was formally adopted on 9 June 2006, and the enforcement of the Regulation will begin with the non-discrimination provisions on 26 July 2007 followed by assistance provisions onboard and at airports on 26 July 2008.
